Happy Wednesday!

Wednesday is my new favorite day!  As I described in my first post, my husband and I have started doing Martini Wednesdays every week.  I was tired of wasting my whole week waiting for Friday to come around, so I decided to come up with something exciting to look forward to in the middle of the week, every week.  We have discovered that a key component of the perfect martini is starting with a frozen martini glass as shown.

This week's martini : Apple-Thyme-Tini

This martini is made with Belvedere vodka, apple juice, and thyme syrup.  I liked this martini much better than your typical apple-tini.  For me the sour apple pucker is way to sweet, and leaves an odd after taste.  I do however LOVE apple juice, and with it being less sweet, you can definitly handle more than one.  The thyme with the apple juice was a great combination, the flavor was suttle, but definitely there, and so was the aroma!  Fresh thyme smells  amazing!

Preparing the apple balls...
The apple balls were extremely easy to do, and uses the same technique and tool as making melon balls.   I poured lemon juice over the prepared balls immediately to prevent them from browning to quickly, and then stuck them in the freezer.

Garnish (the most important part): Apple balls, apple slices, and a sprig of thyme.
